vSTARS has been released and is available for download. For those unaware of this new software(you must live in a convent), it is an extremely realistic radar client modeled after the real world STARS system.

When you download the software you will note that it needs a facility file to operate. While it does allow you to make a file yourself, it is quite detailed and time consuming. Spare yourself the headache. Miami controllers can expect us to have a beta facility file for the MIA TRACON hopefully by Sunday. We are well into putting one together. Sorry, but to make the files we needed the vSTARS software first. Other facilities will follow.

In regards to training and use of this software for the purposes of controller certifications, vSTARS WILL NOT be required. Use of this radar client will be the controller's decision to use and responsibilty to learn how to use. VRC will continue to be used as the radar client for the purposes of controller training and certification. Once our training staff becomes familiar with it, we will offer training on it's use, but then only as "advanced, extracurricular" training.

Maybe some day soon some of us can get together on the sweatbox to practice with this new toy… In browsing through the manual for it, it looks like there is a steep learning curve on it. Sure has an impressive looking display…

A vSTARS facilty file for the Tampa TRACON is available in the file browser of the Lobby channel on our Teamspeak. There is still some work to be done on the file but it is a workable file for everyone to play with until we get the rest done. Enjoy!

Highly suggest you practice a lot before going on the network with this client. LOTS to learn first!

Also, Unless someone removed it, the basic Miami TRACON File is also in the Lobby File Browser. It will be updated to show off all of vSTARS's features in the coming days.

An updated vSTARS facility file for the Tampa TRACON has been added to the file browser in the "Lobby" channel of our Teamspeak. Updates include MSAW's, MSAW Suppressions, and Arrival Filters.

More to come….

P.S. Should this file be removed like the last one was… I will find out who…

An updated version of the vSTARS facility file for the MIA TRACON has been uploaded to the file browser in the lobby channel of our Teamspeak. As soon as I learn how to do it I will make it available for download on our sparkling new website.

With the exceptions of the RDVS panel and the scratch pad rules for the CRDA's, this file is very close to completion. These exceptions should be completed very soon. In the meantime though, this file is fully functional, allowing the use of all the vSTARS features.

Thanks to Alan and Nick for the help on it!

Enjoy!

NOTE: You will have to load your alias file in after you start up this file.
